Flying drones is a blast.
But, for a drone hobbyist like myself, it can be a real bummer when drones break and aren’t nearly as good as the price you paid for them. All too often, they break after one crash or lose the signal and shatter on the ground.
After all, it’s not unusual for a drone to cost well into the thousands of dollars! For this test, I got to try out drones of all kinds of prices, the best-selling ones of 2022, which came in a range of prices.
The results? Well, I am surprised to say the top drone was not the most expensive one from a big brand, but a smaller company that still won out in terms of price, durability, transmission, fly time, and ease of use.

You want the best drone on the market, don’t you? A high-quality drone that is affordable, yet has all the features that make a drone fun: a great battery, clear camera, military-grade tech, and more.
After working with a local hobby shop to test over 60 drones on price, quality, durability and more, we found that only one drone could be considered the best of the best.

UPDATE – In retail stores nationwide, the QuadAir Drone is currently sold out. However, they may still be available on their website HERE.
I got into drone flying about 10 years ago, I’d like to think before they were that popular! So I consider myself somewhat of an expert. Thanks to connections with documentary film makers, I’ve gotten to fly some of the fanciest drones out there. Drones bigger than a German Shepherd dog! But in my spare time, I’ve also flown cheap drones at my nephew’s birthday parties.
And everything in between.
I loved that I got to play with drones for this review, for my own selfish sake, I’ve always been curious about what the best drone truly is because it’s so difficult not to fall for the hyped up marketing. Were the best drones really the most expensive ones I could never hope to afford? Well, thank goodness, it turns out far from it!
The QuadAir Drone is the best drone, while still being reasonably priced enough to make it a good gift for a loved one or as a gift to yourself. It has a camera that will satisfy any drone flyer – people who’ve never flown before or seasoned flyers like myself.
1st Impression

Straight off, I was impressed by how promptly the QuadAir Drone was delivered. But I knew that good things come to those that wait, so I tried to be objective when I actually opened the box. But I was about to be pleasantly surprised that things would only get better from there!
Opening the package immediately revealed high quality, shiny material that my hands itched to touch. When I stroked it I got shivers up my spine, could this beautiful machine really fly as well as it looked? I was supposed to be writing reviews for drones under $300, but this seemed like one of the most expensive drones I had ever flown. Part of me wondered if a mistake had been made. But it wasn’t a mistake. It was the real deal.
The difference between high-quality, expensive aerodynamic plastic and cheap 99 cent store stuff is evident, and it was clear this was the real deal.
Design

So many times I’ve heard from friends who are also into drones how they bought a drone that broke after the first time using it. It lost signals and dropped from 50 feet up in the air. Then they’re useless hunks of plastic scattered around.
QuadAir Drone didn’t LOOK like it was going to break from a high drop. It had strong rotors and when I jimmied the arms, I found that they were very steady. It’s compact design may be part of why they are able to make such a high-quality product. Instead of wasting money on thinking “bigger is better” the compact design probably means the company can afford to use higher quality materials.
As an added bonus, it’s so easily portable, I can bring it anywhere with me. I could even bring it with me and play with it at work during a smoke break – only in this case, it would be more of a drone break!
The really impressive part though was on the label: it has a 2.5 mile transmission range!
That would make it as good as drones I had flown that cost 10x the cost. I wouldn’t believe it until I saw it though. It all seemed too good to be true: hd camera quality, intuitive controls, and insane specs.
Controls

The joysticks have a pleasant resistance that increases precision, and its foldable antennas and retractable phone holder make it a great classic game controller.
Almost everything about the QuadAir Drone seems designed to be foldable and compact to make it easy to carry.
I really love this feature since I often wish I had a drone right now.
In fact, you don’t even need to bring the control pad with the QuadAir Drone because you can control it with an app on your phone!
If that’s not enough, the drone can also be controlled by tilting your phone in any direction, which makes it super intuitive and beginner-friendly at the same time.
There’s also auto-takeoff and landing with the push of a button and pre-programmed 360 camera moves. There’s nothing like it.
Testing
Once the drone was charged half way, I went straight to the nearest mountain, plugged in my phone, and pressed the automatic takeoff button.
I watched as it shot straight up and stopped, hovering perfectly still. This is one of the most important features that every drone should have but very few do. Without it, it’s so easy to crash before takeoff and it’s impossible to be able to get a good camera shot.
Right away, I started testing the drone, taking sharp turns, and spins, trying to compare it to the last military drone I had flown. I wanted to push it to the limit and prove that the reaction time wouldn’t be as good as with higher cost drones.
There is only one difference: Advanced rolling maneuvers aren’t required until you begin using a headset display.
Transmission distances up to 2.5 miles were just as good as promised. This is definitely more than you need, because I lost sight of it of it well before it even got that far.
If you don’t know about quality drones, you might not realize though losing sight of it isn’t a big deal. With the press of a button, your drone will fly straight back to it’s starting place, automotically – kind of like a thousand dollar Rumba!
Then I remembered I had only half a battery and panicked. It is entirely possible that the drone was dead since I was unable to see it.
After checking my phone’s display, I noticed that it conveniently shows how much battery is left, and it still had 20%!
Compared to other drones, what makes QuadAir Drone unique?
Here’s why QuadAir Drone is in a class of it’s own:
✅ Long battery life – QuadAir Drone’s lightweight design coupled with its superior battery capacity allows it to remain airborne twice as long as its competitors on a single charge.
✅ Adaptive Flight– As soon as a gravity sensor detects the ground and other obstacles, the flight path is changed automatically to avoid collisions, making it possible to return or recover with just the press of a button.
✅ Noiseless – Drones 5 times as expensive are almost as quiet as the QuadAir Drone. Silence = quality when it comes to drones.
✅ Portable– Small enough to fold and put in your pocket, you can bring your drone with you everywhere to show off.
✅ Durable– When I crashed it into a tree at high speed when I was trying to show off, QuadAir barely had a scratch!
✅ HD Camera – In addition to the high definition camera itself, you will also be able to take advantage of a variety of pre-programmed camera modes to capture every moment! The drone can take a full 360-degree view of its surroundings with the press of a button, making it an excellent tool for exploring.
Conclusion
I’m surprising myself by saying my favorite drone is one that costs less than $100. It’s perfect for beginners but it’s compact size also makes it an excellent choice for those who have a lot of drone experience but want a drone they can bring with them everywhere and fly whenever they feel like.
I love flying drones, it brings back the joy of playing with an RC car from childhood, and this drone has it all. A seemingly endless battery life, HD camera footage, high speed, and automatic safety and recover features that make it difficult to crash. Not to mention the durability of it – that alone makes it worth 3x as much as they’re selling it for.
A Problem Recently Occurred
When I first purchased QuadAir Drone, I loved it. I told my friend about it (he’s also a drone nerd), but he couldn’t find any available.
It won’t be easy to find these with the 50% off discount, but you’ll have to try.
Assuming it would work, my friend bought a copycat drone for twice the price.
It ended up making breaking after the first use, and he couldn’t even return it, so it was a waste of time AND money.

How Can It Be So Affordable?
A major reason AirQuad Drone is so affordable is because they don’t sell on Amazon. Amazon takes a huge cut of revenue, which means the only way to sell something high-quality on Amazon is by jacking up the price. So while shopping on Amazon you’re either going to buy something that’s low-quality for a low price or if you want high quality, you’ll have to jack the price way up.
AirQuad Drone avoids that conundrum by not selling on Amazon, so they can sell something that’s high quality at a lower price.
Another thing is the company doesn’t do much marketing. It also means they won’t need to charge as much because they won’t be placing them on any store shelves. Additionally, they want to build their brand.
Why Is It Discounted Right Now?
There’s a good chance that the company is working on building up its brand and wants to know what customers think.
They create more sales by getting it into as many hands as possible. There is a constant shortage of supplies, so it must be working.
